Utah Businesses Join Together
to Advance Clean New Energy
Technologies
Twenty-one leading members of Utah’s business community joined
together today to launch the Utah Coalition for New Energy Technologies, or “UCNET.”
“This new coalition demonstrates the growing importance of renewable energy and
energy efficiency technologies to Utah’s economy, environment and future job
growth,” said the coalition’s executive director Craig Cox. He said that the
coalition would pursue outreach opportunities to key stakeholder communities
throughout Utah, educating them about new energy technologies produced,
distributed and used by the coalition members.
“The Utah Coalition for New Energy Technologies brings together
many leading businesses,” notes Jessica Lorah, the coalition’s state director.
“The number of out-of-state companies, particularly in the wind industry,
demonstrates the huge potential that our state offers for developing
economically beneficial renewable energy technologies. We look forward to
working with our members and other interested parties to showcase Utah’s
leadership in these energy technologies.”
“Our business has grown tremendously in recent years, but we
cannot be complacent,” said Mark Case, president of etc Group, Inc., a local
energy engineering firm. “I believe that UCNET will help our state’s leaders
realize the importance of innovative new energy technologies and services to our
future economic development.”
This new energy coalition will work closely with the Utah state
government in areas of mutual interest. As Christine Watson of the Utah State
Energy Office notes, “UCNET will help our office in advancing awareness
throughout key stakeholder communities of how energy efficiency and renewable
energy are becoming increasingly important parts of our state’s energy
portfolio.”
