Accomplishments

In Colorado, the Colorado Coalition for New Energy Technologies has compiled a growing number of accomplishments since it was formed in late 1999 by six companies. What are some of the things we have done since our coalition’s founding in 1999?

Helped Launch Colorado Legislature’s Renewables and Energy Efficiency Caucus

  • In March 2000, the Colorado Coalition for New Energy Technologies helped seven state Senators and Representatives launch the Colorado Legislature’s bipartisan Renewables and Energy Efficiency Caucus. Modeled after similar caucuses in the U.S. House and Senate, this caucus helps increase awareness of clean new energy technologies among Colorado’s lawmakers. As of April 2002, this caucus boasts 39 members.

Provided Comments to Colorado Public Utilities Commission

    • In July 2001, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) began conducting an inquiry into the future of the Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) process in Colorado, in which investor-owned utilities have future resource acquisition plans reviewed by the Commission in public hearings. The Colorado Coalition for New Energy Technologies submitted a short statement urging the PUC to consider pricing mechanisms, such as real time, time-of-day and inverse-block pricing, which would promote energy efficiency and advance the adoption of innovative new energy technologies. The Coalition also urged the Commission to increase its support for demand-side management (DSM) programs and to consider other mechanisms to promote renewable energy, including the possibility of a renewable portfolio standard.

Participated in Roundtable Meeting with Senator Wayne Allard

    • In August 2001, the Colorado Coalition for New Energy Technologies took part in an energy policy roundtable sponsored by Colorado Senator Wayne Allard (R), attended by 14 leaders from the state’s various energy industries, utilities and regulatory communities.
